The Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path
The core of Buddha’s intellectual legacy lies in the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path. He taught that human life is marked by suffering; that craving and attachment are the causes of suffering; that they can be overcome; and that following the Noble Eightfold Path is essential to achieve this. The Noble Eightfold Path comprises Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration. These teachings offer a realistic analysis of human suffering and practical means to overcome it. Thus, Buddha’s philosophy is not merely spiritual but is also deeply connected to human life and practical in its application.
